JOSH "SALTY" MATTHEWS
Born in the rugged mountain country of Colorado, Josh Matthews discovered his love for fly fishing at an early age under the patient guidance of his grandfather. When his family moved to Arizona’s Verde Valley at the age of six, that passion only deepened. What began as childhood curiosity soon evolved into a lifelong calling.

After more than a decade running Salty Fresh Flies L.L.C. and High-N-Dry On The Fly Outfitters L.L.C., Josh—known affectionately in the fly fishing world as “Salty”—teamed up with his childhood friend Caleb Lombarda to join forces under AZ Legend Adventures. Together, they’ve created one of Arizona’s most respected fishing and kayaking operations, renowned for immersive, one-of-a-kind experiences across the state’s diverse waters.

From trout and bass to carp and pike, Josh specializes in crafting unforgettable days on the water. Whether it’s hiking through remote canyons to wade pristine creeks, drifting peaceful lakes by boat, or chasing monster trout in high-country lakes, every trip is a hands-on journey into the art of fly fishing.

Before founding Dirty Verde Outfitters, Ian Silver cut his teeth in the muddy swamps and winding rivers of Louisiana — chasing Redfish, Gar, and Bass in some of the wildest waters the South has to offer. That grit and deep water sense stayed with him when he brought his passion west to Arizona, where he blended his bayou roots with desert waters to create something unique.
